‘UMUI - Guardians of Traditions’ is a combination of a film and a dance performance that invites the audience to immerse themselves in the very essence of Okinawa, this ‘other Japan’ whose cultural richness remains largely unknown.
Through encounters in the village of Ginoza, guided by the Shishi (lion-dog), the show highlights traditions that connect generations and shape Okinawa’s identity.
