Kozue Miyagi

From the age of 7, she began training in traditional Okinawan dance in the dojo of her mother, Toyoko Miyagi, an important figure in Ryūkyū dance. She has risen through the ranks to receive numerous distinctions including the prestigious Ryūkyū Shimpo prize. She is one of the official inheritors of Ryūkyū Buyō dance, declared a cultural heritage by the Japanese government. Kozue is a regular performer at the National Theatre of Okinawa and performs regularly in Japan and abroad.
