Takuya Shimabukuro

Takuya has been playing eisa drums since the age of 5. In 1996, he joined the Sokei Mijitaya Taiko association in Ginoza, his home village. At 15 he took over the troupe. His father being a lion-dog craftsman, he learned to handle it at an early age. As leader of the Sosaku Eisa Luck troupe, he integrates the lion-dog performance into eisa drum shows. In parallel with his activity as a mango farmer, he teaches eisa drums and lion-dog handling to children in the village of Ginoza.
